C-ARM FLUOROSCOPY

AESAH has acquired an OEC 9400 C-Arm Fluoroscope for use in diagnostic services at the hospital. We are using this radiographic unit to perform general scans of animals to determine abnormal areas, as a positioning aid in orthopedic surgery and to perform real time dye studies of GI function, urinary function, and vascular perfusion. The C-arm allows much more flexibility in positioning and viewing of areas of animals than with still radiographs. Still radiographs do have a higher quality image and are still used to get more detail about an area, however, the advantages of mobility and the ability to do real time dynamic studies are something we are proud to offer here at Alaska Equine. In the future we hope to use the C-Arm to make advances in the diagnosis and prognosis of problems of the equine foot with new vascular study protocols.
